Welcome to the cabin!
As I said before this is one of my favorite places to go. Unfortunately, I don't get there as often as I would like. It is about an hour north of Green Bay which makes it around 250 miles from Chicago. It is set back about 50 feet from a small river called the Thunder River. The nearest town is Crivitz which is about 15 miles away. I have had some really great times here. It has electricity and hot and cold running water inside but no toilet yet. It is quite old. Built in the '20's by my grandfather and his brother, it was actually a cook shanty for the lumberjacks that logged the area back then. When they had finished logging up there, they left it behind and my grandfather and his brother disassembled it, moved it to it's present site, and re-assembled it. It's pretty small. It has really only one room that uses a 3/4 wall to seperate the kitchen from the rest of the place. The white part that you see on the front is a screened in porch where I like to sleep whenever the weather permits (and sometimes even when it doesn't)
This is the outhouse. Actually it is the old one and a new one has been built in it's place. It is usually full of bugs, especially ants which there is no shortage of up there. Makes for a wonderful movement! One day, I grabbed my camera and snuck up on my brother Mark while he was making use of it.If you would like to see the resulting picture, click here! (~60k)
This is the back side of the cabin. Depending on who you ask. Some family members call this the front. I guess that is because they pull up to it here and enter through the door you see there. Also in the picture is my old Volkswagen.
